This page says what hci.sh collects, why, who handles it for us, and how to have it deleted. The short version: we count visits without cookies, we keep the email you send us so we can reply, and we never sell anything about you.
Who we are
HCI is a small practice in human-computer interaction, run by Culture Classic Ventures, LLC, 110 E 25th St, New York, NY 10016. This site is hci.sh. For anything on this page, write to [email protected].
Visits
We count visits with Umami, which we run ourselves at stats.hci.sh. It sets no cookies and does not follow you to other sites. For each visit it records the page, the site that sent you, your browser, device type and screen size, and a rough location (country and city) worked out from your IP address. It does not store the IP address itself.
On a sample of visits, Umami also records how you move through a page: where you click, how far you scroll, and a replay of what the page showed as you browsed. A replay stops after five minutes and never includes anything you type. We use them to see which parts of a page work, and only HCI sees them.
The question deck
Your answers to the cards stay in your browser. We never see them unless you press "Book 20 minutes", which opens your own email app with a message that lists the cards you weren't sure about. We receive it only if you send it.
If you write to us, we keep your message and address so we can reply and follow up. We delete them when you ask.
If we wrote to you first
We sometimes write to people at businesses in the industries we work with. We find work email addresses through public sources and business-data providers, and we use them only to offer our work. Reply with "stop", or use the unsubscribe link in the email, and we won't write again.
Who handles data for us
- Railway hosts this site and our stats server. Cloudflare sits in front of it. Both keep standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, so your browser asks Google for them, and Google sees your IP address.
- Our email provider holds the email we send and receive.
We don't sell personal data, we don't show ads, and this site carries no third-party trackers.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected], and we'll answer within 30 days.
